As we walked in today, flashbacks from elementary field trips, birthday parties, and other sporadic zoo outings danced in my memory. The only other time Cory and I had been to the zoo together was for a Ziggy Marley concert before we were married. We didn’t have animals on our minds that night–rather, we were being entranced by craft beer and reggae music.
In the first ten minutes at the animal park we learned a valuable lesson: the “Tiger Lot” is for parking and not where the tigers are located…
We wanted to get out of the house this weekend with our one month old, and I thought it would be fun to take my nephew Grayson along on Everett’s first zoo trip. The second lesson we learned was that two and a half year olds are much more mobile than newborns…The outing was a great workout.
It was hot, bees invaded our picnic and forced us indoors for lunch, and the soap was out in the bathroom, but overall it was a perfect and adventurous day with my favorite boys.
