A Metaphor

MY MIND IS OPEN.
I’VE NEVER HEARD THIS SONG BEFORE,
MAKING IT EVER SO APPEALING.
 …
I GROW MORE PARTIAL TO THE PIECE AS IT BUILDS.
 BEFORE I KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING,
SWEET FALSETTOS HAVE MY HEART INVOLVED.
 …
THERE’S A MELANCHOLY CHAOS
WITH EACH STROKE OF THE STRINGS,
IT’S WONDERFUL—i’m STIRRING.
 …
i CLOSE MY EYES,
BREATHE.
I AM ADDICTED.
 …
I near the PINNACLE OF THE SONG,
BUT THAT WILL SIGNIFY
THE BEGINNING OF THE END.
 …
AND WHEN IT’S OVER,
HOW WILL I STOP MY
FIXATION?
 …
FOREVER, I CAN REPLAY IT IN MY MIND.
NEVER SO PERFECT
AS THIS MOMENT.
 …
I MAY KEEP LISTENING,
OR PERHAPS I’LL  WALK AWAY
while I AM SAFE.
BUT I WILL WONDER
IF EVER i’ll BE THIS MOVED
BY ANOTHER SONG.

I recently started following a writing prompt guideline, and today’s prompt was to describe how it feels to hear a song or look at a work of art. Both of these experiences move me in a way that is similar to what it feels like to fall in love.
